What time to do we leave the dock? How long are the trips? Every trip is different due to tides, currents, moon phases, and wind playing factors. A normal trip is 5 to 6 hours long (full day)
Do I need a Florida State Fishing License to Fish or Gig? Only if you are going on a freshwater fishing trip. Otherwise, your license is covered by Captain James.
Where do we board? When you make your reservation those details will be discussed. We will ensure you have explicit instructions on where to meet the Captain and what time. A confirmation call will also take place 24-48 hours ahead of your scheduled trip.
What about bring young children on a Gigging trip? Children are always welcome however, young children will tire easily and typically need to return earlier than planned. Captain James will leave it up to the parent as to how long is long enough for their child. They must wear Coast Guard approved type 1 life vest, which is provided by the Captain.
What do I wear on the boat? You’ll want to ensure you dress for the weather. Early mornings can be chilly when running. In the summer bathing suits are encouraged. Also, in the event of rain, ensure you have rain gear.
What if there is rain in the forecast? In unfavorable weather conditions, the trip would be re-scheduled by the Captain. These conditions are typically lightning and/or hurricanes. Our boat is equipped with a bimini top to help shield rain, rain gear however is encouraged.
